Video Project
You must earn a score of 70% or better on your video project in order to pass this course.
Use the script [for your level] below to do your video. Then upload your video to Youtube.com and email me the link. Actually, first email it to a friend or parent and see if THEY can access it. Then email it to me. The point is: MAKE SURE your video is not set to "private" (which would mean that I can't view it). You can set your video to be unlisted if you don't want people finding it online. Then after you have your grade for the course you can go delete the video from Youtube if you want. If you need instructions on how to upload a video to youtube just google: "How to upload a video to youtube." Or you can transfer your video to a disk or USB drive and snail-mail it to me. (Keep a back up copy until you get your grade). Or you can google: "Send large file via email" and you can find online services that let you email large files for low cost or free.
Tips and hints:After introducing yourself, sign the number and then the sentence. You need only show me the sentence one time. Pay particular attention to your facial expressions for each sentence (because I'll be looking for your facial expressions in addition to your vocabulary and general fluency). If you don't know what the "yes/no"-question and "WH-question" expressions are see Lesson 02. Practice the sentences until you can do them smoothly and without hesitation. Print or write out the sentences big enough for you to tape them under your video recorder and see them easily. Some students just print out a paper with their sentences on it and put it in front of them. They lean forward to read the sentence and then look up at the camera and sign it. That is okay. Start the recorder and sign your sentences while looking directly at the camera. Do not look off to the side while signing your sentences. Do not stop the camera between each sentence. Keep it going. You should have practiced enough to be able to move smoothly onto the next sentence. The first part of the script is flexible. Don't get hung up on the specifics. The point is to tell me your name and a little about yourself. Then move on to the numbered sentences.

ASL 3 Video Project Script:
The ASL 3 video project script is flexible. (At this moment in time, but that might change.)
Introduce yourself. Where you are from. What is going on in your life. If you are in college tell me your major. If you are working tell me a bit about your job. I don't need a documentary here, just a little bit about yourself.
Tell me why you are learning sign language.
Tell me what you want to be doing in your future. If you don't know then use a sign like MAYBE or don't-KNOW what-DO FUTURE.
Pick one sentence from each lesson in level 3 (Lessons 31 - 45) number them one through 15 and then sign them to the camera. Pick a variety of sentences using various "WH"-type questions and a few yes/no questions.
